Overview
LabCentral is a biotech and life sciences accelerator based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its mission is to help startups accelerate breakthroughs by providing fully permitted lab space, industry connections, and operational support.
When LabCentral set out to redesign its website, the goal was not just to modernize the look and feel — it was to better communicate the organization's value to residents, sponsors, job seekers, and the broader biotech community.
The Challenge
Following a competitive RFP process, SunnyByte was selected to redesign and develop LabCentral's public-facing website. The new site needed to better reflect the strength of the brand, support a range of distinct audiences, and give LabCentral's internal team a more flexible and manageable content platform.
The website also needed to support several critical functions, including:
- Attracting prospective resident companies
- Building credibility with sponsors and partners
- Supporting recruiting efforts
- Simplifying complex application and job listing workflows
Our Approach
Working closely with LabCentral's design leadership, we helped bring a new digital experience to life that balanced strong visual design with practical functionality. The result was a user experience built to serve multiple audiences while clearly expressing LabCentral's mission, culture, and value.
On the backend, we developed a fully customized Craft CMS implementation that gave the LabCentral team much greater control over content management. Flexible components and dynamic page-building tools made it easier for internal users to maintain and evolve the website over time.
Key Features
Custom Craft CMS Build
We developed a tailored content management system on Craft CMS that allowed LabCentral's team to manage, edit, and curate content more efficiently across the site.
Resident Application Integration
A major component of the project was the Resident Application, including the Golden Ticket Application. Integrated with Quickbase, this workflow guides applicants through a personalized sequence of questions and maps responses into LabCentral's system for streamlined follow-up.

Outcome
The new LabCentral website delivered a stronger, more polished digital presence while supporting the organization's operational and marketing goals. It created a clearer path for key user groups, improved how LabCentral presents its services and mission online, and gave the internal team a more capable platform for managing content.
The project also supported high-value user interactions through resident applications, job exploration, and program-specific content experiences — all within a cohesive, scalable website platform.
