Discoveryland website

Overview

Discoveryland Co. needed a better way to support its sales team’s club-specific microsites. At the time, the organization was managing an existing sales tool ecosystem spread across separate CMS installations, creating unnecessary complexity for maintenance, administration, and future growth. SunnyByte partnered with Discoveryland to take over the existing platform, consolidate it into a unified Craft CMS multisite environment, and create a stronger long-term foundation for sales enablement across club locations.

Discoveryland

The Challenge

The project involved much more than a redesign. Discoveryland needed SunnyByte to temporarily maintain 10 existing club sales sites while also replacing that fragmented setup with a new multisite platform that could support current and future club locations under one roof.

A major part of the effort was migration. Existing sales microsites, content structures, site configurations, branding, and active client-facing URLs all needed to move into the new platform without disrupting ongoing sales activity. The new system also had to preserve familiar concepts such as homesites, points of interest, clients, contacts, and pages so the transition would feel intuitive for the sales team.

The platform also needed to support multilingual club sites, client activity tracking, custom dashboards, and a sales-friendly CMS experience that would allow users to create and manage microsites without relying heavily on developers.

Our Approach

SunnyByte began with discovery and technical onboarding, gaining access to the legacy codebases and CMS environments while surfacing the business, branding, and technical requirements needed to move the platform forward. We also took responsibility for supporting the existing sales sites during the transition so Discoveryland’s sales team could continue using them while the new platform was being built.

We then created a new hosting and deployment environment and developed a Craft multisite architecture capable of supporting all existing club locations plus new ones. The content model was intentionally mapped to the structure sales users already knew, with equivalent content types for homesites, points of interest, clients, contacts, pages, and site configuration. Club-specific branding and settings were moved into configurable global fields so each location could maintain its identity within a shared platform.

From there, we migrated the active sales microsites into the new platform, including their site configurations and content, while preserving previously distributed URLs so existing customer links would continue to work. The result was not simply a content move, but a transition from multiple independent systems into one centralized architecture designed to be easier to maintain and expand.

Discoveryland

Key Features

Craft Multisite Consolidation

We replaced a fragmented group of separate CMS sites with a unified Craft multisite platform designed to support 10 existing club locations plus 6 new club locations at launch, making the system more scalable and easier to maintain over time.
Club-Specific Branding and Configuration

Club-Specific Branding and Configuration

The shared microsite template was built to support per-club customization, including logos, colors, fonts, and other global settings, allowing Discoveryland to balance consistency with location-specific branding.

Sales-Team-Friendly CMS Architecture

We created a CMS structure that allowed sales users to manage content relevant to their assigned club locations, with permissions configured by site and tools for managing homesites, points of interest, client pages, contacts, and submissions. The platform also included dashboard and client activity functionality to support the sales workflow.

Migration of Existing Sales Microsites

SunnyByte migrated Discoveryland’s active sales microsites from the legacy platforms into the new Craft multisite environment, including site configurations, content structures, and club-specific settings. The migration was designed to preserve familiar content organization for internal users while consolidating the sites into a more scalable platform. We also ensured that previously shared client URLs continued to function after migration, helping protect continuity for active sales efforts and minimizing disruption during the transition.
Ongoing Expansion for New Clubs

Ongoing Expansion for New Clubs

After the initial build, SunnyByte continued to support Discoveryland’s growth by adding new club sites into the existing multisite environment, including site configuration, localization, theming, and optional interactive map support.
Long-Term Maintenance and Modernization

Long-Term Maintenance and Modernization

Since launch, SunnyByte has continued to maintain the Discoveryland sales tool ecosystem through quarterly Craft CMS, plugin, PHP, and performance updates, and later completed a Craft 5 upgrade to improve security, compatibility, and the editor experience.

Multilingual Support

The multisite system was designed to support multiple language sites for club locations where needed, including international use cases.

Oracle CRM Integration

SunnyByte later extended the platform by building REST API feeds for Oracle CRM integration, helping improve lead capture and client tracking for the sales team. This included API endpoints for client records and client activity, along with lead ID rules inside Craft CMS to strengthen data integrity.

Outcome

SunnyByte helped Discoveryland move from a fragmented collection of independently managed sales microsites to a centralized, scalable Craft CMS platform built for ongoing growth. Existing sales content, configurations, and active microsites were successfully transitioned into the new environment while preserving continuity for the sales team and their clients.

The new system gave Discoveryland a more efficient way to manage club-specific sales experiences, support internal users with clearer permissions and workflows, and launch new club sites without recreating the underlying infrastructure each time. Since launch, the platform has continued to evolve through additional club launches, CRM integration, ongoing maintenance, and major CMS modernization.
